Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Recognize the Signs. Respond with Confidence. Change a Life.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an evidence-based certification course that teaches adults how to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adolescents ages 12–18.
Participants learn to identify early warning signs, provide initial support using the Youth Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE®), and connect youth with appropriate professional and community resources.
In-Person Training
Our instructor-led, in-person training is ideal for school districts, campuses, businesses, churches, healthcare organizations, and community groups. Participants complete the full certification course in an engaging classroom environment featuring interactive activities, group discussions, and real-world scenarios.
Blended Virtual Training
The blended virtual option offers greater flexibility by combining approximately 2 hours of self-paced online coursework with a 4.5-hour live virtual instructor-led session. This format allows participants to complete the foundational learning at their own pace before joining an interactive online class.
Texas HB 3 Compliant Training
Youth Mental Health First Aid is recognized as a training that satisfies the mental health training requirements established under Texas House Bill 3 (HB 3) for Texas school personnel, helping educators and school staff meet state training expectations while strengthening their ability to support student mental health.
Upon successful completion of either training format, participants receive an official Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
